Lake Road Elementary, located east of Poplar Bluff on AA Highway near the Municipal Airport, serves students in grades K-6 within the Poplar Bluff R-I District. Originally a primary elementary school, Lake Road expanded its configuration in 2018 to include fourth grade and has since grown to serve students through sixth grade.
Lake Road is a National Blue Ribbon School — the highest honor an educational institution can achieve — a distinction earned despite serving a significant proportion of historically disadvantaged students. The school has also been recognized as an ESEA Distinguished School, a Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase School, and has earned the Gold Award of Excellence for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) multiple years running.
As a Missouri Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support school, Lake Road has built a learning environment that supports the academic and social success of every student. Our school theme — Lake Road ROCKS — reflects the expectations we hold for students, staff, and families alike: Respectful, Outstanding, Cooperative, Kind, and Safe. Student data drives daily instruction and helps identify those who would benefit from additional academic or behavioral support.
Lake Road enjoys strong community partnerships through its Bright Futures Site Council, which brings enrichment activities to students throughout the year, including Club Days and the Rotary Good Habits Store — a monthly attendance incentive program developed in partnership with the Rotary Club of Poplar Bluff.
